Further to my last post showing how you can now add a complete Album to Windows Live Writer to both show inside your post and also publish as a PHOTO ALBUM on Windows Live, there is another addition to the brilliant photo choices incorporated into the latest Essentials build.

Showing a picture or Photograph as a Polaroid picture inside your blog!  And you can tip it sideways, write a caption underneath which is really cool.  So lets do just that with one of our pictures shall we, and then try all the different things out!

1. Once you have composed your post decide whereabouts you want your POLAROID picture to be placed, and then leaving your flashing cursor at that spot, click on POLAROID PICTURE from the INSERT list to the right of the compose screen.

Your Picture Folders

2. You will then be taken to your Picture folders where you can choose which picture you would like to insert, then click on OPEN when you have chosen the picture and then it will appear inside your compose area.  By default it will be placed where your cursor was placed.

Polaroid Menu If you then click on the picture you will see the POLAROID PICTURE menu on the right hand side of the compose screen.  So lets try some things out with our picture shall we?

3.  At the moment it is set at small size, and there is no TILT applied to it.  So let’s try TILTING it sideways.

4.  Click on the TILT bar and the picture will then be tilted either to the left or the right hand side, whichever you choose.  Try either side to see which looks best.  I will tilt mine to the right. By sliding the bar either to the right or left you can choose the degree of TILT to apply to the picture.

I will stick with 5% for mine.  Hmm, yes that looks okay but I would like my text to wrap around the picture as well!  So look under the TILT feature and you will see TEXT FLOW.  This is where you can choose to have your text ‘wrap around the picture.

5.  So now decide whether you want the text of your blog to be on the right hand side of the picture or the left hand side, and then choose either right align or left align from the TEXT FLOW choices. I have chosen to right align my text.  Yes that looks fine, but I would also like to add a caption to the bottom of the POLAROID PICTURE just as you would do if it really was taken by a POLAROID camera.

6. Under the SIZE choice you will see a CAPTION area and a tick box to enable the showing of a caption, so tick the SHOW CAPTION choice box, and then enter your CAPTION into the text bar that you would like to appear at the bottom of the POLAROID PICTURE. I will insert the word Waterfall.

7.  Next to SHOW CAPTION is a choice box for the fonts that you would like the CAPTION to use, so click on that.  Now you will be presented with a choice of FONTS for your CAPTION and also a choice of colour for the CAPTION text.  I am going to choose Segoe Print in Bold and in a Maroon colour . I think that it looks okay, so I am now satisfied with the picture and how it is going to be displayed inside my post.

And here is the finished result!  Looks very nice doesn’t it? And adds to making the post much more attractive to look at and read!

So go ahead and try this new feature out inside the new Writer.  Do experiment with it until your picture looks at its best, then when you are happy with the completed result you can publish the whole thing to your Space!
