Live Mail

Obviously if you have a “Live ID”  then you have probably used the predacessor to Live Mail which was formerly known as “Hotmail”.  Live Mail is an independent application that sits on your desktop and allows you to access your e-mail.  If you don’t have “Live Mail” Click Here to get it now!

For those of you who are familiar with the inner workings of Microsoft Outlook Express or Windows Mail then this is one application you will not want to be without!  With rich and dynamic text editing features, easy attachment processes and other elements you will want to add this to your desktop today!

Presuming that you already have “Live Mail” let’s take a look at how to do some of the basic things within it.

Create A Message

This is the easiest thing to do in “Live Mail” once you have the application up and running merely click on “New”.

Notice that when you click on “New” it gives you a list of options that can be performed from here like new mail, new photo mail ( we will work on that one later in this post), blog, instant message and various other items.

What you see illustrated above is the beginning workings of a new e-mail message!  There are some things that you must have in order to send your composition.  Obviously you must know the person’s e-mail address you desire the message to go to!  If you “Click” on the “To” button where it asks for the address it will bring up a box with all of your contacts that you have.

Ok, so you have found the person you want to send your mail to but what if you wanted to include another person in on this mail?  There are couple of approaches you can do on this one.  You can include multiple addressees in the “To” section or you could choose to list them in the Cc portion.  Make sure, though, you separate each address with a comma.

Also, maybe you would like to send this mail to someone else but you do not want the original recipient to know that you have done so….this is where Bcc comes into play at and stands for “Blind Carbon Copy”.  This is a really cool feature to use if you are working on legal matters and wish for someone to see your message without the original recipient knowing that you done so!

Notice in the above illustration I have made my selection and now that persons e-mail address shows up in my “To” section.  Click “Ok” to have it added to message itself!

Ok, I have composed a message to my niece and nephew in Kentucky!  Notice that there are several words underlined in red.  As most of you know this means that something has been misspelled and I can choose to have “Live Mail” fix them for me.  All I have to do is go up top in the toolbar and click on the “Abc” button with a checkmark under it and it will check my spelling and make suggestions to the changes that are needed!

While I am thee I am going to produce a link to my site in this mail!

I decide to add some spice and flair to my message so I changed the background  “ Stationery” along with the size and type of font and color!  Very easy to do things that most of you are familiar with!

Send Photo Mail

Ok, now you know some of the basics of sending a regular text e-mail!  Let’s look at a different side and something that nearly all of have thought about doing or have done!  Send Pictures!

image

I decided to send a photo of me and our son to my niece and nephew that they had not seen!  By merely clicking on “Add Photo’s” allows me to do so!

By hovering your mouse over your photo will bring up a new option like adding some text at the bottom of your picture to customize it even more.

Notice now that the same picture as above now has text below it describing it to them!

You can further customize this same photo from here.

Maybe you would like to add a special border to customized cropping to it to add some personality to your picture!

Same picture, same text but chose to add an effect to it.  I really did not like it!  So, I am going to change it.  Do not panic you are not going to have to redo your mail again click on the  correctionredo

to revert to the photos original state!  This will allow you to try a different effect and make any necessary corrections you might want to do!  This feature works through every process of your mail composition.

Ok, I have my photo looking the way I want it too with some nice metal corners and have even changed the colors of them which can be done after you choose your effect then go to where is says “Border Color” and voila you have created your own unique looking picture to send in an e-mail.

As with any fine product that Microsoft offers as you become familiar with the inner workings of various toolbars and editing features you will find that they pretty much work the same way throughout each individual application!  That is why Microsoft is the forerunner of software applications as they try to make everything associated to work the same way and can even be cross referenced from one application to another!

Send It Away

You have composed your mail, added some photos and customized them!  All that is left to do now is send it to the person(s) you addressed it to!  Simple…..”Click Send”.  However, if you feel that there is something missing you can always choose to “Save” your e-mail and come back and work on it later!

Microsoft at its best!  Just another reason to get the whole suite of “Live Products” and see how you can begin to merge the best of all your worlds together!  Whether it be e-mailing people, sharing information, uploading and storing your precious photo memories or just chatting with one of your friends.  Microsoft has the products that will simplify your life and then you can truly begin to share your world “Live”.
