Many people, even in the IT industry dismiss Windows Mobile as buggy, clunky and generally rubbish. I disagree. I love Windows Mobile. I love it for many reasons and even more right now because of something that happened moments ago.
Before that though, some background info. You may have read my post about using Windows Mobile in conjunction with an Exchange Server, whereby you emails/contact/calendar etc. is synced between the two. Anyway, the 2 other Technicians and the Network Manager at work all have and attempt, to sync their iPhones with the Exchange server. This works to an extent, but doesn’t work straight away. There is way too much hacking, modifying and general excessiveness required in order for this to happen. Even then, it doesn’t always work.
Enter me and my Windows Phone, where varying amounts of smugness ensues.
Anyway, back to what just happened. Those of you who use Outlook on a regular basis will probably be familiar with the Meeting request feature, so instead of having to find each individual person and ask them to come along, and then remind then when they forget, you just send out a meeting request in outlook to the people you want to come and it will automatically add this to their calendar. This will then be synced to their phone.
This just happened to me, except I wasn’t doing this via Full (‘Fat’ as we call it) Outlook on my PC, but on my Phone. I got the meeting request delivered via Direct Push and I accepted the request and it automatically added it to my phones calendar!
“So what?”….well, its cool, it just works and I love it! No Hassel of having to manually add this to my calendar like I would have to if I had an iPhone, no waiting for the Blackberry servers in California to respond…none of that. Its instant.
This will, of course, require some gloating tomorrow morning.
