You’re kidding me, right? You want to use Live Search but you don’t have a computer or smart phone?
Okay, okay, you’re right. You can search with a simple mobile phone and you don’t need web service or SMS texting. Live Search 411 to the rescue!
Sorry, chaps, but as far as I can tell this is a US only service. Perhaps you have an equivalent in your country.
Say I’m headed to out of town for the weekend and I would like a weather forecast.
1. I dial 1-800-CALL-411 or 1-800-225-5411 on my cell.
2. An automated attendant asks what I want and I say other services.
3. Then I say weather.
4. When asked if that is correct, I say yes.
5. I can use the phone’s keypad to enter a ZIP or I can say a city and state.
6. I hear today and tomorrow’s weather including temperature, wind, and cloudiness.
7. For an extended forecast, I simply say tell me more.
8. If I want additional information like driving directions, I can type ** on the keypad or say start over.
Incredible – I love this free service! Thanks Microsoft; this is truly great. I’ve added Live Search 411 to my cell phone contacts, and since I’m guided by the automated attendant, there is nothing else to remember. I just call and ask for information on businesses, restaurants, traffic, movie times, weather, and more. I can finish by connecting to the business on a free voice call or I can receive information by an SMS text message.
